Karma is looking for a smart full stack engineer to help solve the world’s stupidest problem: food waste. With several “Start-up of the Year” awards under our belt and 1 out of 10 Swedes using Karma, the applications you work on are guaranteed to have impact and reach.

The mission of your role

As a full stack engineer at Karma, you’ll work in a modest team that is making a big difference, building innovative applications that solve difficult, meaningful challenges. You’ll be a vital part of a cross-functional team made up of engineers, a product designer, and a product owner, working across our stack from database to UI, with web and mobile technologies.

  • consider JavaScript your main language
  • are confident in your abilities without being cocky
  • get sh*t done
  • are proud of what you build, but know it can and must be improved
  • don’t beat around the bush, but communicate with respect
  • care about your colleagues and customers
  • are a curious and quick learner

Tech at Karma

We’re a small team that wears many hats, and we learn on-the-job by solving challenges in order of urgency and value. We’re flexible in what systems and parts of the product we work on, collaborate across teams, and we’re involved in features from inception to implementation, including polish and maintenance. We value good code and novel solutions, but know that they’re means to an end: done is better than perfect. We choose technologies ourselves and view them agnostically as tools that have pros and cons. At the moment we get things done with TypeScript (Node, React, React Native), GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform.

The bottom line

If you’ve worked at a startup, you know. If you haven’t, here’s the rundown: there’s no room for egos, politics, or bull-sh*t. What we build today could be thrown out of the window tomorrow, but we build it with 100% commitment nonetheless. You’ll laugh more than you’ll cry, and look back at the work you do now in 10 years and think “how did we get that done?” And you’ll love every minute of it.

At Karma, we set the bar very high, but you get a lot in return. Apply now and find out for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Or, know someone who would be a perfect fit? Let them know!
